It will be great to have a core group of Admissions Consultants on the club formed from successful clubbers. This group can provide support to subsequent applicants. If someone wants to talk to a clubber from his target school then he/she should be able to locate that person in this club. Our aim should be to put the paid admission consultants out of service :o .

that is a good idea, and actually there are "ambassadors" from each of the major schools here:

https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/103-t4455 ... ambassador

We can update it with this year's batch too.

As for full consulting and essay review, maybe something like the GMATClub version of rhyme's "MyAdmit" might work? Just have a set (low) price for different essay lengths and a turnaround time so the service is consistent? If Praet is up for that idea, we can even create a thread like "Ask GMATClub Ambassadors" to answer questions (like MBA Game Plan and Ask Accepted.com) specific to a school or review essays?

Sounds good to me, in fact an area where someone can post up something to be reviewed and get multiple perspectives would be useful.

It is important that the 'Ambassadors' do not re-write any essays in anyway, and should only point out general things which they consider to be strong/weak or unclear parts.

of course, that's one thing I make sure I do not do (re-write) when I review essays. I ask questions, comment on clarity and themes, and point out confusing areas.

As for the forum, we need members to sign up to be ambassadors. It is a little late to start this forum for the 08 season, but I will be sure to do something like this for the 09 gang. Some 07 applicants will join us, but it is very likely that the 08 applicants will have to take the lead. I think the essay reviews part is difficult to implement on a forum though. Private message seems to be the way to go.

The proponents of the idea are often the ones key to its success. Take the time to give - I don't promise that you will receive, but just think of why this forum exists and the benefits you enjoy because someone else took the time to share. It may make sense to you that every forum or online community mirrors the real world - not everyone wants to share, but consumers are plenty.

thanks everyone. keep the ideas coming.

Praet, I don't know much yet, but you can definitely sign me up for ambassador of any school I choose to go to. :)

For the essay review, i agree PM is easier, but if we are to save the reviewers from having to reject a lot of people, because time is valuable for them, we probably should have some sort of a set range of fees for reading essays, just to be consistent across the forum. Of course, we could just let everyone set their own price of compensation, or have rhyme's method of "donate to my beer fund". But I just wanted to suggest some sort of consistency if people are up for that.
