Hi all,
Here goes my debrief.
Preparation: Started prep 2 months ago. Did the first test in GMAT Prep as a diagnostic test. Got 730. From then on I scoured the web for free GMAt tests. Did virtually every free GMAT test available online (Kaplan:700, Manhattan: 720, Princeton review: 750 are the ones I remember). Bulk of my preparation centered around taking as many mock GMAT tests as possible.
Managed to get hold of all 8 Manhattan guide books. Spent the last 10 days before the exam just reading thru them to revise concepts. Went ahead and purchased the Manhattan CAT series. In the last 10 days prior to the actual GMAT, I must have done 8 CAT tests.
GMAT Prep 1: 730
Manhattan 1: 720
Kaplan free test: 700
Manhattan 2: 750
Manhattan 3: 750
Princeton review test 9: 750
Princeton review test 10: 760
Manhattan 4: 720
GMAT Prep 2: 770
Manhattan 5: 750
Manhattan 6: 720
Actual GMAT: 750
I guess I got my median CAT score in the actual GMAT too.
The actual GMAT:
AWA: A simple argument. Finished it in 21 mins and whiled away 9 mins before starting the IR section.
IR: Actual GMAT IR was 50% simpler than the MGMAT ones. Finished this section in 24 mins. Was feeling really confident at this point.
Quant: Again, the actual GMAT quant was way simpler than that of Kaplan or the MGMAT tests. FInished this section in 71 mins.
Verbal: This was my strongest section going into the actual GMAT and was feeling really confident about this section. Was cruising thru this section at a deliberately slower pace (as I had finished the earlier sections much before the allotted time) when I suddenly realized I had only 17 mins left for the last 10 questions. Suddenly I felt time pressure and started to quickly eliminate and guess and move ahead (I typically take 130 secs per verbal question). This surely resulted in a lot of errors in the last 10 questions of the verbal section bringing my score in that section down to 40 (I was hoping to hit 43 - 45).
Moral of the story: Don't change your tactics in the middle of the exam unnecessarily. I deliberately slowed down and that probably cost me 20 points.
Nyways the GMAT is over for me now. Now on the the app season.

Hey,that's great score!
What kind of questions did u encounter during the exam,especially in quant.Which topics u feel one should stress more on in quant?
Also,did u find the verbal questions(especially SC) to b tougher than GMATPREP questions?
If u were to rate the difficulty of questions in GMAT verbal section,how would u rate them (CR>SC>RC?)

I was quite surprised by the relatively lower level of difficulty in the IR and Quant sections as compared to Manhattan GMAT tests. Quant - most of the tougher questions were on number theory and inequalities. I got just one question on probability.
In Verbal, I got a really tough (and lengthy) RC passage - 130 odd lines. But overall level of difficulty was more or less the same as GMAT PREP. I found the SC questions a tad easier to crack (probably because I had spent some time with the Manhattan Sentence correction book). Towards the end I got a fair mix of tough CR and SC questions.
