If you're comfortable sharing your section wise breakdown, that may help further suggestions. Otherwise 685 is a very good score, so congrats!

Also, 8.8 CGPA isn't so bad. Try to convert it to an international GPA score out of 4. It might well be equivalent to a 4 out of 4.

Could you please share how many incorrect questions there were in each section? Thanks.

Your verbal and DI are both good scores. You can focus more on improving your Quant score.

Assuming you're targeting a 705-715 type score, that would mean an increase of 20-30 points, which translates to 3-4 points increase in sectional scores. This is definitely achievable.

Try to get better at quant, you can give various practice tests to find the topics you struggle most in quant. That way you can increase your score there.

Also keep practicing V and DI as you need to maintain those scores as well. Feel free to reach out if you need further help with quant.

Good luck 👍

Hi Anushka17,

The good news is that 685 is a great GMAT score! Regarding whether to retake, I have an important question for you. Can you tell me what you were scoring on your MBA.com practice exams?

Congratulations on your GMAT score and impressive background! While 685 (740 classic) is strong, it’s slightly below HSW averages. Retaking could help if you’re confident of a 720+ boost. However, focus on crafting outstanding applications—highlight leadership, healthcare impact, and clear goals. Stellar essays and recommendations can outweigh minor GPA or GMAT concerns. If deadlines are tight, prioritize applications over retaking. Explore waiver options where applicable. Let me know if you need essay tips!

Hello. I'm facing the same concerns with the same score. Unfortunately, I've used up four attempts this year and only have one chance left. With a 685, do you think I can still knock on HSW's door?

Consider checking out the Decision Tracker on gmatclub. You could see the types of scores people have gotten invites/admits with (e.g. to Harvard). If you decide to retake, including/sharing your score report could be helpful.

How to score high on the GMAT. Why solving approach is important.
