Sure i will get some mixed responses here, but my b-school apps are asking me for every attempt i've made on the GMAT FE. I took it three times and the first two times I didn't really like my scores at all. So should I just withhold or should I answer "truthfully" on the app? I'm sure they're not trying to trick you but humans will be humans and I fear I'll be judged if I report any low scores even if my others are are better.
Hi
Fish181,
We understand. Let's tackle this together.
Understanding the Dilemma: You're in a tricky situation. Business schools want transparency, but you're concerned about how previous attempts might impact your application.
While there's no definitive answer, here's a strategic approach:
Be Honest: Most business schools value honesty and integrity. Disclosing all attempts, even those with lower scores, shows your commitment to transparency.
Contextualize Your Journey: Explain the reasons behind your multiple attempts. Perhaps you were focusing on different sections or aiming for specific schools that required higher scores.
Highlight Improvement: Emphasize the significant improvement in your subsequent attempts, showcasing your dedication and perseverance.
Focus on Overall Profile: Remember, the GMAT is just one part of your application. Your essays, recommendations, and work experience also play crucial roles.
Potential Risks and Benefits:
Risk: Disclosing lower scores might raise concerns about your preparation or commitment.
Benefit: Demonstrating your perseverance and learning from mistakes can be seen positively.
Ultimately, the decision rests with you. Weigh the pros and cons carefully, and consider seeking advice from an admissions consultant if unsure.
