GMAT FE- 685 (Test centre) debrief and help needed
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are well! This post is going to be an Amalgamation of my testing experience and advice which I’d be needing from the community (fits the Mba and GMAT tag)
I gave my GMAT FE today, got a 685 (upset because I was aiming for a 695 minimum). Percentiles wrt sections are - Q-94, V-79, DI- 96, Overall: 97). I have been keeping a bit unwell, so was tired after the quant section hence soldiered through verbal.
For context, I gave my GMAT focus online around 3 weeks back, and got a 675. Since, that time I gave 3 remaining additional official mocks and got a 715, 745 and 685.
That is with respect to my time leading to the exam and my subsequent result. (Please feel free to ask me any follow up questions on this, more than happy to help)
Advice needed: Should I give the exam again?
Brief about me: Indian, Non-engineering male, worked at an MBB for 3 yrs (1.5yrs in backend and 1.5yrs in front end consulting); have been on a sabbatical where I have been exploring what I want to do next- (ultimate goal is starting my own business one day), preparing for gmat and just recuperating a bit since I was pretty burnt out post my consulting stint.
I intend to apply next year, since I want a relatively stronger profile from a work experience standpoint to help me with post mba recruitment and my target B-schools are M7 (emphasis on HSW ofc). I am about to start my next stint at a health-tech company.
To summarise: Basis my experience and next steps, would you recommend giving the gmat focus again to ensure Gmat isnt a barrier or is 685 enough?

Ultimately, if you're confident you can score higher and have the flexibility to retake, the question may be: why not? Perhaps take a couple of days to think over it/see how you feel. You could also write a profile-review in which you include your scoring info, the types of schools your targeting, and any queries you may have.

The good news is that you have a great score in your back pocket. So, based on how things went with your recent practice exams, you have nothing to lose by giving the GMAT another shot! either way, let us know what you decide to do.
