It is challenging to figure out the reschedule and cancelation fees so I am putting together a topic to address questions related to when you can get a refund or how you can cancel your appointment and when is too late. Note that the policies have changed many times over the years (we even had free cancelation during GMAT Online introduction which was awesome). Additional complexity comes from the 2 formats of the test (online and test-center) that have slightly different fees... Anyway, these are the latest change and cancelation fees by GMAC.

Note that these fees are not inclusive of taxes. Additional taxes may apply to test registration as well as cancellation and rescheduling fees.
Note that if your ID does not match your mba.com account, you will not be allowed to take the test. You will not receive a refund or a free reschedule if you have a document check issue, so make sure that you know what documents to bring and that the name matches. My thoughts:
- Due to very high penalties and rescheduling fees, it is not recommended to book your test 60 days out UNLESS you think the test center will fill up.
- Book Your test a few weeks out. If you cannot find availability, take the test online
- Should you book the test online or at a test center? It is a bit cheaper at a test center and there is a 99.9% guarantee that you won't have technical issues. You can also follow the wisdom of your country: over 40% of test-takers in the US take the test online but only around 25% in India.
- If you do not show up for the test, it will not count against your life-time maximum and will not appear on your score report.
