GMAT Focus scoring by percentile [#permalink]
Hi! Just wanted to understand the algo of the new GFE a bit.
If you miss easy questions in QA, we have seen a drastic drop in percentiles in GFE.
what happens if someone deliberately makes two consecutive mistakes in easy QA section, makes sure that remaining questions are answered correctly, and, during the final review, corrects those two mistakes?

Would the percentile still be 100% or less?
By deliberately making two consecutive mistakes, he/she is making sure that upcoming questions will be of lower difficulty level!

Thanks egmat for your insights. Can you tell me what max mistakes I can afford per section to get Q88, V83 and DI 82. Like in classic GMAT to get Q50 it is said one can make say max 2-3 mistakes in total. So how does this change?

Also please share the combination required for say 685.
Thanks in adv

@ramik - for 695, your sum of scores needs to be 253. So any of the following will do:

Quant Strength - Q88, V83, DI 82 - your preferred option, assuming you are at Q50 already on the classic.
Verbal Strength - Q84, V87, DI 82

Note, the percentiles on DI ramp up steeply after 82.

To go from 710 to 695

1. Practice some IR questions and then take a GFE mock test. List here: https://e-gmat.com/blogs/best-gmat-focu ... tice-test/

2. Strengthen Quant (whatever is needed), then attack Verbal, based on the analytics in the score report, and finally ace DI.

Note - the correlation between the # of mistakes and score is not very high (~52%). Having said that, here are some numbers:

1. Quant 88 - 1 mistake
2. Verbal 83 - Up to 5 mistakes
3. DI (81) - Up to 5 mistakes.

How many questions to get correct to get DI 82 or above? Out of the 20?
