hi guys... thanks for your replies. I think it will take be around five months or so to fully prepeare for gmat. This is because i am working and the amount of time i devote may vary at times.

Its great to be a part of gmat club. If I get any useful info or so i will surely post it so that we can share the info.

Regarding B-schools in us, how much work ex a person should have to get into top schools?

It depends on other parts of your profile. Use businessweek.com's school statistics to get a general idea of average work ex for your school. Then, if you see that you're not in the comfort zone, think about positive things that can outweigh lack of work exp in your application.

Roughly, I'd say 2-3 years are a minimum; 4-5 years make you fairly comfortable; 5+ years with some managerial exp mean you don't need to worry about work exp.

One more tip: if you're really going to set up a 5-month prep marathon, make sure you've got a plan and measure your performance. Otherwise, you'll just dawdle and waste time without any use.

I'm not very good with the grammar parts (since my parents don't speak english very well) so I always work on Verbal first, with the sentence correction.

I have enough GMAT & MBA books to fill a library, but if your on a budget I would buy them in this order:

Official Guide
OG Q or V supplement (or both!)
MGMAT Sentence Correction
Kaplan GMAT 800
Kaplan Math Review (depending on your math ability)
Kaplan Verbal Review (depending on your V ability)
Princeton Review GMAT book
Kaplan Premier Program
