Hi Nishant,

First off, both 680 and 690 are fantastic scores (they're both right around the 85th percentile overall), so either could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:

ask-admission-consultants-124/

If you do plan to retest, it's worth noting that GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. These two Official results show that you essentially performed in the exact same way both time that you took the Exam. To score at a significantly higher level, you'll have to make some fundamental changes to how you 'see' (and respond to) this Test.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hello Karishma,
Thank you for your encouraging words.
The reason I gave GMAT again so soon was because I wanted to apply to ISB in R2 this year.
Anyways, now that I have time,If i do give my GMAT again it will be 3-4 months from now.
I want to know what thing can I do differently in my prep this time so that I don't miss out on my desired score again.
Also,I just wanted a quick heads up as what sort of colleges i can target this year with my current score, even for like a masters in management course.

Regards,
Nishant

At 690, you would be good with the basics but lacking an understanding of advanced applications of at least some of the topics. Also, fine tuning your Verbal strategies might help.
