Question

Hi, i have a question ? 
I'm going to take the GMAT the 22 of February. By mistake I bought the 12th version of the GMAT OG , now one month is missing from the exam and I have no time to buy another book and study it again. Someone know if that book , even if is an old version, is good for my preparation ? (I already know that is missing the IR section)

Hi Michilocatelli95 , Yeah, OG12 is perfectly fine. The link to all subsequent OG's is the post above. So, you have to open the link to the subsequent edition, and find the new questions. For example, the new questions are either marked with *, or the files with analysis are attached in the bottom: https://gmatclub.com/forum/the-official ... 43450.html This way you'll cover all available OG questions. thanks a lot. I opened the file, I noticed that in the PS and DQ section there are no question marked with * . That's means that are all the same as my version ?

Hi Michilocatelli95,

While the OG12 is an older version of the Official Guide, most of the practice questions in that book are still relevant to the current version of the GMAT, so you should be fine working out of that book at this point. That having been said, it's not clear how well you studies have been going overall, so before I can offer you any additional advice, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs/mocks (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you are asking about the 13th edition, you'll find some quant practice questions (PS and DS) that are not in the 12th edition. Maybe 70-80.

I've been studying seriously since one month. I started to study on the book "GMAT for dummies" Lisa Zimmer Hatch, MA Scott Hatch and now I'm practicing on the 12th edition of the OG. I didn't tried yet a mock test. I would like to score as much as I can .

Hi Michilocatelli95,

If you've been studying for the last month, then you really MUST take a FULL-LENGTH CAT (including the Essay and IR sections) sometime soon - perhaps this weekend. You can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). That initial diagnostic CAT is important - it helps to define your strengths and weaknesses and gives you a basis for comparison as you continue to study. Most Test Takers are not happy with that first CAT result, but that's not a big deal - you can improve on that initial practice result as you learn more about the Exam and hone your Test-taking skills. Once you have that initial CAT result, you should post back here and we can discuss the results and how best to proceed with your studies.

Having a specific Score Goal is also important - as it can give you a better sense of what you need to focus on (and how "close" you are to your Goal). Even if you're not sure what Schools you want to apply to yet, you should research a few Programs that might interest you - so that you can get a sense of the type of GMAT Score that you might "need" to apply to those Programs.
