Hi, I will soon begin my GMAT prep and wanted to ask whether there are any significant perks of buying the upcoming OG 2019. Since the pattern change is there going to be a huge difference b/w the two?
OG 2018 will cost me around $25, OG 2019 is currently listed in my country for $150 on Amazon India but for only $44 on Amazon US(mind has been blasted :P), I live in India. Idk whether price will be lowered when the book does get released, which is 25th June. Should I wait for the release?

This matters a lot to me since I plan to study almost every other thing online.

I'm aiming for 750+ and had got a 660 : Q50,v30 ( didn't expect that low score in verbal) in an offical GMAT mock I gave without any prep as such in April.

I'm planning to take egmat for verbal(since I'm not a native english speaker, and hope to atleast reach V40). Also have all Manhattan Prep books for SC,RC and CR.

For quant I'm undecided. I'm fairly good at quant and will definitely want to go for a Q51, any books and online courses that anyone here can suggest will be of great help because I want to study quant in a structured manner rather than haphazardly going through topics and leaving some things in between.

Lastly, I plan to take GMATclub tests and a few GMAT official CAT mocks for my practice at end.

I'm absolutely free and ready to give upto 8-10 hours to GMAT every day. Planning to finish my prep within 90 days if not less.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi anishraina,

I would recommend you to go ahead with OG 18. OG 19 has only around 15% new questions which you can easily solve on this website once they are out.

Also for verbal, your choice of E-gmat is great. E-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market. You can easily track your progress in that you can identify your strengths and analyze and improve on your weak areas.

Also MGMAT guides they are phenomenal and cover the entire syllabus really well. I must add that if you are particularly looking to discover and improve on your weak areas in Quant; a subscription to GMATCLUB tests is the best way to do that. They are indeed phenomenal and will not only pinpoint your weak areas but also help you improve on them.

Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

rohan2345 hey thanks a ton for your advice. Just a few more questions, are gmat og and gmatclub tests good enough to touch Q51 in quant ?

PS I saw a thread on gmatclub tests (worth $250) being offered to users who purchased egmat verbal online course(basically anything above $109) if you bought it from the thread link that bb posted but the post was in 2011. Does anyone know if that offer is still availble to users who buy egmat ? bb ?

Yes, I believe OG 18 and GMATCLUB are sufficient to increase your score to Q50- 51.

In my opinion you can buy the OG 2018. Most of the questions in new OG are repeated and the new ones can be searched on the forum. So you can save a few bucks here. Further, for Quant you can study theory from the Ultimate Gmat Quant megathread of Gmatclub. For practice you can enrol for Gmatclub tests. They are harder than the actual test and will build your concepts for a Quant 50-51.
