Hi Guys,

Couple of years ago I had decided to prep for the GMAT. However I didn't score that well and I need to start again.
I had bought OG Verbal and Quand Review 2nd Edition, I believe it is a 2009 print. I am not too sure.

A lot of threads I referred to are dedicated to 2012 and post 2012 prints.

Do you think I should buy the latest OG set ? Latest only because 2018 edition is out...

What would you recommend ?

Thanks
Yes, you should get the new OGs. You can still use the ones you have, but the new ones will give you more questions to practice.

Thank you for your replies bb, Rich and Arun.

bb :
For now, Ive decided to order the Manhattan Series and after your replies, the 2018 OGs as well. Apart from going through the basics what I had in mind was giving the Manhattan CATs.

Some books I already have :
- Powerscore CR Bible : I know that this one all GMAT test takers recommend.
- OGs Verbal and Quant Review 2009 print
- Kaplan Verbal and Quant.

If you have some recommendations, Id be more than grateful.

rich :

I was planning to take a practice CAT in a week or two. Although not very proud, my score was 520 Q35 and V26 during my first attempt in 2012, to give you an idea from where I am beginning. I am guessing that I will be around this score again, if Id pass the test now without any preparation, which was almost the case the first time.
Goal Score : 700+ (I know I need to make up for atleast 180 points)
Timeline GMAT : February 2018 (Tentative)
MBA School Applications : Later round applications for the 2018 intake. (Tentative)

Tentative because I dont want rush into giving GMAT like I did the last time. Ideally, Id love to start my MBA next year but I want to see how my preparation goes and how close to my achived goal score I am by January.

Hi suryeshchatwani,

While it's certainly possible that you might score at the same general level on a CAT taken today as you did on the Official GMAT 5 years ago, we still need to assess your CURRENT skills - so taking that first CAT (in a realistic fashion) is essential. With a planned Test Date in February, you have plenty of time to study, but you're going to have to be really efficient during that time (especially if you have to pick up 180+ points).

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
