Hi. I’m sorry about the decline in the score.

Don’t get upset but I would say that it’s not really possible to diagnose anything if you only give the total scores. Unfortunately the entire values in the details and that’s where you should be looking into, the overall score is based on sectional scores and sectional scores are based on questions that constitute each section and sometimes a different mix of reading comprehension and critical reasoning for example or data insights has all kinds of questions. I think the likely answer is there.

I would compare your sectional scores Between the practice tests and your official test.

I would also be curious to know about your timing and how that compared between the official and the practice tests.

appreciate the response. Score is still unofficial and 'pending'. I had a score of (690 pre focus) =~675 focus equivalent in July 2022. Even with careless errors, how has my score degraded from 675->625->585.

I don't have breakout of V, Quant, and DI score/percentile breakout but here is my score timeline

*Official test - pre-focus (OG) (10/29/2022): 690

-Mock 1 FE: 595
-Mock 2 FE: 635

*official test FE (8/24/2024): 625

-Mock 3 FE: 675
-Mock 4 FE: 665
-Mock 5 FE: 675

*official test FE (11/30/2024): 585

This official test was lower than my first mock FE. How is that possible (100 of hours went into studying between 8/24 test and 11/30 test. I feel my foundations are there and I can score 695 official, but seemed more realistic when practice tests were in 675 range. Has anyone seen this phenomena where there is a huge drop off? I felt really good going through quant and had like 6 mins to spare. Answered every question without having to guess (whether I calc wrong answer I'm not sure). I'm just in desperate need of some help and answers!

Thanks!
Just to calrify, a score of 690 classic GMAT equals 635 GMAT Focus and not 675.

Appreciate the clarification, I did know that and must've been a typo. Regardless, my score has still decreased every time with more study time. That isn't the way any test should work, imo.

I felt confident in the quant section, and I’m at a loss as to why my score has decreased despite putting in so much time and effort. I would really appreciate the opportunity to review specific questions from my test to understand where I went wrong and how I can adjust my strategy moving forward, or if anyone else has seen or experienced this phenomen where I start out strong with 680 and my score gets worse the more time I invest into getting better? How is that even possible? Would appreciate any input anyone has. Was trying to raise my score from 680 to a 710 but seems a bit more unrealistic now that I'm starting at 585. Super lost and would appreciate anything.
Hi Mgerman42,

Although I don't know what happened on your GMAT, I wouldn't say that your target score is unrealistic. You have a 680 and a 690 on the old GMAT, which is a great sign that you can get a similar (or better) score on the new GMAT.

Hi Mgerman42,

I'm happy to help. Could you share a screenshot of your TTP analytics page? That will give me a clearer picture of your progress in the course.

Regarding your score, it's quite common for students to perform better on practice exams than on the actual GMAT, often due to anxiety. Reflecting on your experience, do you think anxiety played a role in your performance?

In any case, we're here to support you. Feel free to reach out to us via live chat so we can discuss your GMAT experience and figure out the best path forward.
