I just gave my GMAT online, only to find out that none of the IIMs in India are accepting GMAT online anymore. Does anyone have a list of colleges in India that do accept GMAT online now? (It might also be helpful for people deciding to give GMAT and unable to decide between online and offline option)

As the saying goes, "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". But unfortunately, I have spoken with numerous applicants who are in similar situations because they have not adequately informed themselves about the requirements (Many could not get timely dates for the in-center exam so it's a real pain).

As it's a matter of your career and brand pedigree, I advise you to take the in-center exam, if possible, and target the top IIMs such as IIM A and B. If you are enthusiastic about pursuing an MBA in India, this small detour can greatly impact your career prospects.

Best wishes

It's so strange. I had no option to give offline gmat at the time, my centre literally called and cancelled two days before since it shut down due to covid. I was forced to give the online one. At the time GMAT and every institue acknowledged it as being on par with the offline exam. I can't find a good reason why the IIM's are suddenly not accepting them. So unfair.

Hi adieroxy,

You should appeal to the admission committees directly and explain what happened. If they don't budge, then use the opportunity to retake the test and score better.

As for the list of schools accepting online GMAT, our team is on it and will soon post the list.

Good luck!

Hello adieroxy,

If you are applying to Indian schools, it is better to take the test at the center as most schools do not accept the online score. International schools are ok with the online GMAT; still, if you have the option to take the test at the center, we would recommend that you do.

All the best!

I assume you took the test during covid time. Inform the school of this and I'm sure they'll reconsider.

About the good reason, it's because there have been instances of improper conduct (read cheating) with the online test. Google and you'll find out more.

Hi,

Many Indian B-schools accept GMAT, but GMAT Online acceptance varies.
IIMs
  • Accepted for Executive Programs: IIM Ahmedabad (PGPX), IIM Bangalore (EPGP), IIM Calcutta (MBAEx), IIM Lucknow (IPMX).
  • May require in-person GMAT – Verify with each IIM.
Other Top Schools Accepting GMAT
  • ISB, XLRI, SPJIMR, Great Lakes, MDI – Policies on GMAT Online may differ.
Next Steps
  • Check official websites.
  • Contact admissions offices.
  • Prefer in-person GMAT for wider acceptance.
