Thanks bb, So even if I had attempted the last question wrongly wouldn't that have been better?

I thought the missing question penalty reduced my V36 to V35, your thoughts?

It’s hard to tell exactly how much you would’ve gained or lost but I’m not sure what the expectation would be. Your score will not get changed… it is possible you could gain 10 more points out of that or it may have no impact, assuming that indeed you didn’t answer the last question but that’s just speculation 🤷‍♂️😇

When I was on the last question of verbal (Question#36 I am pretty sure I saw on to corner 36 of 36 ) I had 20 secs & I marked random guess (just to avoid it going unattempted) then I started actually to solve the question.
As soon as the timer ended (I hadn't pressed the NEXT/END button; Also I didn't even see if it was NEXT or END  )
I saw a new question window for fraction of a second before it displayed section-ended message.
Hi RushS,

I wouldn't worry about this if I were you. Maybe they just open the new question window before checking the number of questions already presented to the test taker (you didn't confirm your answer, so that's another thing that could have affected the app).

There’s not much you can gain by worrying about it. Can’t really change your fix anything with Worry.

Thanks AjiteshArun & bb :)

My AWA score is 4 & IR is 5. Any thoughts if I am applying for top B-schools, any serious issues?

Probably difficult to confirm what happened on that last question (or if it was truly the last question). If it was the second question of an RC, there may have been a 3rd question, for example.

Question#36 I am pretty sure I saw on to corner 36 of 36

If you saw this, that was definitely the last question.

Hi RushS,

AWA4 and IR5 should not be a problem. IR5 (47%) is a pretty good score. AWA4 (18%) is a relatively low score, so you may want to check with your target schools if they see it as a problem (I don't expect them to flag it, but it doesn't hurt to check).

Hi RushS,

First off, a 690/Q49 is a fantastic Score, so you would likely be fine applying to any Schools that interest you. To that end, if you are planning to apply to any highly-competitive Programs, then you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

As far as the potential issue that you faced in the Verbal section, even if you didn't answer the final question in the Verbal section, the overall impact on your Score would have been negligible (maybe 10 points, but depending on your actual Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores - not the 'rounded' ones every Test-taker receives as part of their Score Reports - the difference might have been 0).

Since many Business Schools have publicly stated that they don't use the IR score as part of the application process, you likely have nothing to worry about with a IR5. Of course, if you're interested in what a specific School/Program thinks about the IR score, then you should research that School directly (you might also consider contacting the School to ask). In addition, most Programs are satisfied as long as you score an AWA of 4.0 or higher - and since you hit that mark, you don't have a problem there either.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi ScottTargetTestPrep, I guess I am just on the average for most of the top European schools. (Not aiming for any US ones).

Have you considered reaching out to the folks in admissions to see if they can shine some light on your IR score?

ScottTargetTestPrep yes I am doing that, also from whatever other advice I have, it's just an adequate score, nothing much to worry about.

UPDATE 21 Aug

Hi All,

I gave GMAT Online again, This time also similar thing happened.

My section order was Q>V>IR&AW.
When the verbal finished I saw for a moment a question that had 2 columns So it was an IR question that flashed just before break between V & IR. My IR first question was choose each from a column type cc bb ScottTargetTestPrep AjiteshArun @EmpowerGMAT
Hi RushS,

Thanks for the update. It's probably something to do with the way their app works. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
