GMAT online vs in person score report

Question

I had read that the GMAT online does not send full score reports with all your scores in the way that the in-person exam does. My first attempt was online in April and scored a 640 (Q48, V28, IR 6, AWA 5.) I just had my second attempt last week and got a 710 (Q49, V38, IR8, AWA 4.) Question I have now is whether I should send both scores to the school I plan on applying to. From what I gathered, since the GMAT online does not have a full score report, if I send my highest score will they not see my lower score at all? I am not sure if sending both would be more or less advantageous in this situation.

Hi! You can send your highest score. IMO they don't care about all of your scores. Send which you want and they accept that one.

Hi. Congrats on 710!

You should only send the highest score. There’s no reason to send the other one.

PS. You are correct that was GMAT online, you have to choose for a particular score to be sent so if you don’t choose both then only the one you chose will be sent.

PPS. Some business schools will ask you to list all of you GMAT scores and test attempt that you have taken in the past. You will have to list it but you do not need to send the score.

Thanks all! It's just that I've read articles that claim score improvements can show perseverance and maybe admissions would see that in a good light, but good to know!

I think for most people perseverance would not be demonstrated was just two test attempts.

You also have to almost make it a part of your story to make it accountant work because in the application, there’s not a whole lot of room to enter your additional scores. Some schools do indeed ask for this information but they ultimately care about your final score and how that impacts their schools average.

Bottom line, I don’t think you will improve your chances by providing both scores. At the same time, you won’t really diminish them either.
