Hi mankiwsclerk.

Normally, it takes less than two weeks to get your official scores, for what it's worth, and many schools accept unofficial scores while you're waiting to receive official scores.

Hi mankiwsclerk,

When you take the Official GMAT at a Test Center, you will receive an Unofficial result that day. In almost all cases, that Unofficial result will be the same as the Official one that you receive later on (once your AWA/Essay is scored and the overall results are certified). Thus, you will be able to list your results on your application. The Official Score Report is typically available in less than 2 weeks (and sometimes even within a few days) - depending on the time of year and the number of Exam results that need to be certified. Business Schools' Admissions Teams generally won't even look at your Official Report unless they think that you'd be a good applicant to invite - and that process can take weeks (or even months) to occur. This all means that a delay in accessing your Report would likely not impact your applications at all. If you'd like to know how a particular School/Program handles that type of situation though, you should reach out directly to the School's Reps and ask.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Dear GMAT community,

Also, how strict are the universities regarding the deadlines? The deadline for the application the universities I want to apply for is on the 19th of may. I assume the university requires me to send all relevant documents to apply, including the official GMAT result, within the deadline, right?

Some schools will allow you to submit your unofficial score by the deadline as long as you follow up with your official score soon after. However, to find out that information give the folks in admissions a call.
