Hi,
How relevant is the GMAT percentile? Is it taken into any account while looking at the profile of the candidate? After all it is the more definitive pointer towards a candidate's relative stature vis-a-vis other test takers.
Can anyone shed some light on the same.

It is all about percentile. If there were no percentiles, you would not really know whether 700 is good or not so good. Score and percentile are somewhat interchangable terms. However, the percentiles have been changing over the past 5 years. For example, 710 used to be 97 percentile and 680 was 95th. or smth like that - I have an old chart somewhere. Basically every admissions place wants to know how you did compared to ther test-takers. Very often the score is translated to see the percentile.
