I have given Gmat Twice,First score 600 and Second(Online) score 610 [V25 Q49], I was getting a 650 in last 3 mocks of Veritas with verbal split in the range V30-32. In the actual gmat ,out of the 1st 20 questions i got only 2 SC questions( my strongest section) and that might be one of the reasons i performed badly on the D-day. I will give the Gmat once again by 10 Nov. I need a personal Tutor for Verbal who could help me bring my level upto V-42. I am ready to put in the hours, Help Needed. Please PM me.
Hi Abhish27,
I understand that verbal questions on GMAT can be very tricky. It requires a strong conceptual understanding and the use of right methodologies to score well on GMAT Verbal. Test makers set a lot of traps to confuse students and if the concepts are not clear, you will likely end up getting stuck between two answer choices.
The right strategy to approach SC questions:
There is a common misconception that knowing grammatical rules will help you solve SC questions. But SC questions on GMAT test your ability to convey the intended meaning without any ambiguity. So, it is important to approach SC questions from a meaning stand-point. Because you will often come across answer choices which are grammatically correct and convey a logical meaning but are indeed incorrect. So, it is important to understand the intended meaning the original sentence is trying to convey and then eliminate choices which do not convey the intended meaning or which are grammatically incorrect.
Having said that, if you are looking for a private tutor, I can definitely help you with that. We offer you a chance to work with
highly experienced teachers, who have a minimum of 10 yrs teaching experience and we offer a hybrid learning experience where we combine the best of online learning (technology) with private tutoring. We use technology to do 3 things
- Get you a personalized trackable study plan that adapts in real time
- Track your performance on the portal against 20+ data points for each question.
- Help you learn the basic concepts through video lesson, thereby saving the number of private tutoring hours you need. (these video lessons are created by the same experts who teach you)
The tutor uses these data points before each session to identify the gaps in your learning and create relevant content for discussion. Hence each session is 5 times more effective than those offered by other private tutors as you get pin-point advice on exact reasons behind your mistakes. As a result, you get the maximum output with minimum number of sessions.
