Hi Cathal93,

Regarding how to spend your week, do some light studying, such as doing focused practice and reviewing flash cards/notes from past topics to ensure that knowledge has not slipped through the cracks.

Every bone in your body is going to tell you to “study study study,” but trust me, cramming or over-studying will hurt more than it will help. Try to keep busy with activities other than GMAT prep: go out to dinner, go to the movies, binge-watch netflix, go for a run… Do whatever you have to so you don’t spend the days leading up to your exam worrying about how things will go. If you take this time to do fun, relaxing things, come test day, you can walk into your GMAT with a fresh head and kick the pants off the test.

You also may find it helpful to read this article that provides some advice on how to treat the final week leading up to your exam as well as some test day tips.

Feel free to reach out with any further questions.

Hi there! This is my second time posting after receiving a lot of wonderful PMs after my first post. My GMAT is this Saturday, February 5 and I'm looking for some advice to maintain (or improve) my most recent practice test of 710. I want to strike the balance of staying on top of concepts with questions, while also remaining fresh for my exam.

I've come quite a long way. I completed a very blind diagnostic in August and received a 440. In my following practice exams, I began a steady incline:

8/25/2021 GMAT Official #1 V24 Q29 440
10/16/2021 GMAT Official #2 V35 Q40 620
10/30/2021 GMAT Official #3 V36 Q42 640
10/21/2021 GMAT Official #4 V42 Q38 660

I started to realize I was getting a little stuck on quant and was worried I had reached my maximum score. After my October assessment, I began to really focus on quant, completing all the Manhattan guides (including its online test banks), more GMAT club questions, on top of focussing on my error log. I completed my fifth assessment in January and was thrilled with my quant score, but my verbal slipped:

1/8/2022 GMAT Official #5 V32 Q48 650

After that point, I reached out to the forum and received countless recommendations to view the GMATNinja YouTube series. These videos are incredible and really helped me in tackling reading comprehension and critical reasoning. Sentence Correction can still be a hit and miss, but today I sat my final practice test before next week's real thing and I got a 710:

1/30/2022 GMAT Official #6 V38 Q49 710

I'm particularly happy with this because I've been able to maintain my quant score (or slightly raise it, rather) while also really improve my verbal. I only got one question wrong across all reading comprehension questions and only two wrong on critical reasoning (the rest of the 5 incorrect came on sentence correction).

I would be very happy if I received this score next week. My question to the forum is, what should I do this week to help maintain this score and what shouldn't I do that could negatively impact my performance next Saturday?

Hi Cathal93,

The journey from 440 to 710 takes a lot. It shows your consistency and efforts. It's important to reflect the same on the actual test day.

And based on your choice of mode of exam whether online or in-center, you may find some helpful information here: https://blog.gmatwhiz.com/gmat-online-v ... nter-exam/

All the very best to you! :) Do share your experience here.
