combined ratio = defective/total = (17/51000)
New shipment = 60000
Expected defective = 60000*(17/51000) = 20
Hence, answer is (b)
New shipment = 60000

what i had done was --- x/60000 = 2 / 5000 + 5 / 12000 ....
Dont you think by the language of question it means same what i have written above?
