mkrishnabdrr how can I get more practice on the math? I agree that
Magoosh is good with teaching the concepts, but I feel like I need more than that to understand it. They told me to try Khan, but that site only has limited instructional videos of what I am looking for. And I cannot afford a tutor.
Dear
Jmullins83,
This is Mike McGarry, from
Magoosh. I'm happy to respond.
First of all, some questions. Where do you live? Is English your native language? If not, how long have you be learning English? What did you study for your undergrad degree?
Because you have so much ground to make up, it is going to be so much more important for you than that it is for most other students to master the
habits of excellence. The list given at that link contains at least a first step--you certainly should master all of those habits. I also would recommend interviewing people. Interview successful students. Interview professors at a university. Ask all these people what habits successful students have, then implement those habits in your life. I want you to be thinking about excellence every second that you are awake. I want you to bring the quality of excellence to everything you do, so that it becomes a habit in every aspect of your life. Consistently live out the motto: "
Do the common thing uncommonly well." I want this to be such a thorough habit so that every single moment you are studying for the GMAT you get the most out of it that you can.
My friend, to improve from where you are now to an impressive score will be possible, but this will take blood, sweat, and tears. This will not be easy. This is going to require every last ounce of your dedication and commitment. If you are willing to work full throttle at improving yourself, then you can reach your goal. You cannot take anything for granted. You have to bring this quality of striving to every aspect of your life. Every last detail matters, because how you do anything is how you do everything.
Does all this make sense?
Mike
