Hi
EMPOWERgmatRichC,
Well, I can assure you that CAT 5 was way harder than the rest of GMAT Prep CATs that I have previously taken. On this exam, I got a 710 (Q47, V40).
On the Quantitative section, I made 17 errors. Despite this, I still got 47. In any of the previous GMAT Prep CATs that I have taken, making 17 errors would have sunk my score.
Furthermore, the fact that I found harder questions made me be around 3 questions behind schedule during most of the exam, which increased my nerves and stress. Again, this had never happened to me on any of the previous GMAT Prep CATs, and I strongly believe that had a negative impact on my performance. At times, it threw me out of the exam.
So my question is still whether I should expect to find such a hard Quantitative section on my real GMAT exam. I am aware that whatever test I get, it will be leveled against the rest of test takers. However, I also believe that putting such a tough Quantitative section increases very much test takers' stress, which may throw them out of the exam.
For this reason, I believe that it is preferrable to find a relatively easier Quantitative section and have to make less errors, than to find a Quantitative section as hard as the one that I found in CAT 5.
