Everything about GMAT Prep For GMAT Focus Edition:The new GMAT Prep for GMAT Focus edition is here and was released in mid June. However, there are a few important things we may have missed about it and this post will attempt to collect them all:
New Links:
New GMAT Prep link - I took me about 10 mins to locate the new GMAT Focus GMAT Prep Link so save yourself some time. It is not at the same place as the other one and it is a different system with a new UI.
GMAT Prep Paid Tests 3, 4, 5, and 6 - this is a separate store front from the traditional mba.com/store (so very confusing)
New Questions: The biggest news about the new GMAT Prep is that it has new questions. Mostly new questions! This is great news for anyone who is preparing for the GMAT since you can now find new Quant and Verbal questions (albeit no SC). This is great news for a few reasons: 1) New questions are always awesome since the OG had none and 2) If you are preparing for the GMAT Classic right now and then have to switch gears in mid-flight and take the Focus edition, your practice test scores will not be inflated as all/most questions will be new to you. We are starting a new tag on the forums and starting to tag questions appropriately and also to help people avoid stumbling upon these. You can avoid these if you are preparing for GMAT Focus. Thank you yeloo for alerting everyone about the new questions. I think I missed that.
Practice tests one and two are sharing the same question database. It is more extensive then test three, four, five and six. In our estimate it is possible to take 6-8 unique tests, the experience always differs based on your pattern and question performance. After eight test, question start to repeat quite a bit. Also keep in mind that because the database is shared between the two tests, it doesn’t matter if you take test one 8 times or both tests 4 times, the end result is the same.
I would give Kudos to the GMAC for actually rolling out a whole new set of questions to the GMAT Prep and not just recycling the old ones. This is actually thoughtful of them and so it seems they prioritized the GMAT Prep for new questions instead of the OG. My guess next year we will see the OG with a whole bunch of "new" questions that will migrate from GMAT Prep when the old one is shut down in early 2024 per the schedule.
As a reminder, GMAT Focus launch dates will be announced by Aug 29 when registration for the test will open up.
Good luck everyone on your GMAT!
