GMAT Prep is fairly accurate, right?

Question

I've taken my two GMATPrep practice exams and got a 730 (48 Q, 41 V) and 770 (50 Q, 45 V) on them. Getting the 770 today really bolstered my confidence, and I'm thinking of scheduling the real thing in the next couple weeks. My question is, how accurate are these exams? Do they tend to be of a similar difficulty, or are they easier? I'll definitely take a few more practice exams before taking the real one, but I'm wondering how confident I can be on these scores.

Like everything, it depends. Personally, I scored 740 on both practice exams, and scored a 700 on the actual exam. I've heard plenty of other people who found their practice scores were 30 to 50 points higher than their actual.

I've heard commonly that it's + or - 30 points on the real test, if you were to consider a range. That said, we arrive at this conclusion after assuming that EVERYTHING else is the same - your mental state, your ability to gauge problems etc, etc.

My prep scores were 750 & 770 and the real thing came out at 760. So I'd say its pretty spot on :-D

My view has always been, don't linger with this stuff, be done with it and move on ... If you feel confident, schedule it for 2 weeks time, you are already in the target range.

After reading tons of forum feedback, I think the two tests that approximate the real GMAT are the GMAT PREP and the MGMAT. Did you do the 2 full essays?
