Hi,
A while back on dowloaded GMAT Prep tests that someone linked in one of these forums directly from the mba.com website. I took the first test, however it doesn't have answer explanations. Does anyone know where I can get these or can I just start posting the questions here and wait for people to solve them? I don't want to duplicate if they are already posted somewhere.
here's one I guessed right on but don't know how to figure it out:
5^21 * 4^11 = 2 * 10^n
what's the value of n?
a. 11
b. 21
c. 22
d. 23
e. 32
Can you explain how you would solve this?
Thanks!

5^21*4^11 = 2*10^n
5^21*2^22 = 2*2^n*5^n
5^21*2^22 = 2^(n+1)*5^n
For LHS = RHS to hold true,
n=21 (powers of 5 or use powers of 2 => n+1=22 or n=21 again)
Thanks guys.....but what do LHS and RHS stand for and what do they mean? I'm sure I must have learned these at some point in my academic career but can't remember.

LHS = Left Hand Side.
RHS = Go figure
Its just a convenient way to represent equations.. helpful when you backsolve (taking values and trying to use them in functions on both sides of '=','')
