5^21 * 4^11 = 5^21 * 2^22 = 5^21 * 2^21 * 2 = 10^21 * 2

So n = 21

5^21 * 4 ^11
= 5 ^21 * 2 ^ 22
= 5 ^21 * 2 ^ 21 * 2
= (5*2)^21 *2
= 10 ^ 21 * 2
RHS we have 2 * 10 ^ n
Cancelling 2 on both sides we have 10 ^21 = 10 ^ n
so n = 21

Thanks guys.....but what do LHS and RHS stand for and what do they mean? I'm sure I must have learned these at some point in my academic career but can't remember.

LHS = Left Hand Side.
RHS = Go figure :lol:

Its just a convenient way to represent equations.. helpful when you backsolve (taking values and trying to use them in functions on both sides of '=','')
