How do I prepare for GMAT as I have a fair understanding of all the concepts and the exam is scheduled on November 22, 2020?
My target score is 700.
I am lacking in practicing the questions. How do I practice them? :dazed

You still have 1.5 months for your exam. If you know the concepts well then your preparation time might be lesser than a person whose concepts are not well but in any case, exam preparation is required so that you are well aware of the various question types and how to tackle them. What are the various kinds of traps and what kinds of errors you are committing in your practice and mock exams? Are you able to deliver excellent performance under time pressure and consistently throughout the exam duration?

A nice start would be doing some practice sets for both the sections and give a mock exam and report back your performance so that experts will be in a better position to provide you with guidance.

All the best!

Hi OK735,

It is good to see that you are clear about having a fair understanding of the concepts. Now if you feel that the next step is practicing questions, then let me guide you here.

You are making the most common mistake of skipping the most important step in the preparation of GMAT that is learning the methodology. It is really important to so this before jumping into solving questions. As GMAT is a test of application of concepts, it is important that you have good application skills. If you start solving questions without learning the methodology, then you will likely take more than optimum time to solve questions. You might probably think that the time management issue can be addressed by practicing more and more questions but that doesn't work that way. There might be many ways of solving a question but the best way to solve the question under optimum time is by using the right methodology to do it.

You can understand how to tackle DS questions using the right methodology be going through the following recording.

The path forward:

  • Learn the methodology (Deal with one topic at a time)
  • Take sectional quizzes of that topic and make sure you use the methodology to solve questions
  • If you do not get at least 80% accuracy, go through the concepts and the methodology and make sure you learn them perfectly this time
  • Repeat the process for all the topics
  • Once you are done with all the topics, start taking mocks
  • If you get your desired score consistently in a couple of mocks, you are good to go

Make sure you plan all these properly as you have your exam on 22nd November. If you need any help in making your study plan or organizing topics, you can get in touch with me. Or another way of getting your personalized study plan is by signing up for a free trial of GMATWhiz. Make sure you have a proper study plan with clear deadlines because the study plan is the one that helps you stay disciplined right through your prep.

Hope it helped! Feel free to write back if you have any queries. All the best :)

Hi OK735,

From your post, it's not too clear about where you are actually at in your studies. Can you tell me for how long you have been studying and whether you've taken any recent practice exams? In the meantime, here are a few helpful articles:
