Hi everyone,

I have been studying for the GMAT for two months now and made my first official test yesterday, 11th of December. I scored a devastating Q29 and V23 (450). Aimed for 550-600 as I need 550 to do the MBA I want. got the feeling I underscored on Quant and could get a higher score if I was sharper, didn't make sully mistakes and had better sleep before. On verbal I constantly hit the V23-25, so there's fundamentally going something wrong there.

I did a four week course (20 hrs quant/ 10 hrs verbal) and been practicing and revising via GMATclub and youtube since then.

I have searched around on the forum, but couldn't get a grasp of what the best books are if you want to improve verbal from Q25 to Q30-35 and Quant from Q30 to Q40.

Since the timespan is around 30 days and I work for two days a week I've got around 25-30 hours per week preparation time. The prep books I am looking at are:
- Manhattan Prep Complete strategy guide set (8 books)
OR
- Manhattan Prep Foundations of Verbal/ Quantative
OR:
- Manhattan Prep Foundations of Quantative and PowerScore Verbal (SC and CR) and finding a tactic to attack RC on Gmatclub and read some novels/ academic books

If someone has better suggestions or a better study guide for the upcoming month they are, of course, more than welcome.

Great weekend everyone!

Hey Jordi12345,

As you just have 30 days of time, I don't think it's wise to shuffle across random resources to prepare. Choose one good standard resource which can help you with:
  • Concepts (A score of 450 indicates that you are having conceptual gaps)
  • Methodologies (Most important)
  • Practice quizzes
  • Detailed solutions (Very important as most of your learning happens when you analyze the solutions)
  • A proper study plan (As you have your deadline coming)

I think there's a scope for improvement in both quant and verbal modules. So, I suggest you to follow a strict study plan which can provide you with weekly tasks. This way, you will be clear of what to study on any given day. You can check out the free trial of GMATWhiz course and get a personalized study plan. And I would also suggest you to get in touch with me over a call, so that we can have a detailed discussion about the study strategy and the further plan. Regarding prep courses, in addition to seeking advice in this thread, take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant and verbal courses, and also read through some GMAT success stories to see what materials have worked well for other test-takers.

Feel free to reach out with further questions.

Good luck!
