Hey guys,
I am new to the forums so I apologize if I should be looking else where for my questions. By no means am I trying to get 700+ at this point my main goal is to get somewhere near 600. I have been studying for the Gmat for the past 3 months. Usually 3 hours during the week and 8 on the weekends. I take the test in 2 weeks and feel absolutely lost. I have taken 3 practice tests and have been greatly discouraged. I always figured I would have to retake it but my test scores keep getting worse and worse the more I study.
Kaplan Premier 1: 490
Kaplan Premier 2: 460
PowerPrep 1: 430
I am using the
Kaplan premier and
OG 11 with power prep sprinkled in. I have gone through most of the practice questions in
OG and pretty much finished Kaplan permier. However, I still feel lost when it comes time to take the practice tests. I think I am just doing pracitce problems to do them but not accomplishing anything especially the verbal. I have read some of the study recommendations but I was wondering if anyone has good recommendations for improving CR and SC questions or better ways to study. I very frusterated at this point and am just losing my mind with this and feel very hopeless with the test approaching in 2 weeks. Any help would be appreciated.(I don't expect my offical score to be that high but somewhere in the 550-590 range would be nice)
Thanks.
GMATPrep and PowerPrep do a good job of estimating your final GMAT Score - if you got 430 and your goal is close to 600 - move your test day. If you are within 2 weeks and cannot get a refund - then do the best you can at this point.
You will need to do some emergency prep and cut your losses and see what you can come up with. You can get there, but you may need to take a week off work, which in the end will cost you a lot more than a second test attempt.
For SC's get the
PowerScore SC or
Manhattan GMAT SC Books
For CR - same recommendation Manhattan CR or
PowerScore CRYour goal is to learn rules, principles, and fundamentals rather than do practice questions. Spend all your time next week just learning and not solving any problems. After that dive into the questions and keep an
error log so you know what you are still missing and do 30 -60 mins of practice questions, and then mistake analysis and then go back to the materials to brush up on the rules/strategies. Repeat.
