Hi guys,
I got my GMAT score report today. Got 5.5 in AWA. Wanted to ask if that would compensate my relatively weaker Verbal score? I got 730(Q 50, V38).
Also, my college on the GMAT report is mentioned wrong. Actually, I picked the wrong college in the survey, becase the college I graduated from was not present in the list GMAC provides after the exam. Has it happened with anybody else as well? I believe the same report goes to the schools as well.

I wouldn't worry too much about your verbal score. it's above 80% which is sort of an "informal" cutoff I've heard. Also, the other thing I heard from an admissions person, was that they won't start looking at your sub-scores unless they need to "break a tie" -- in which case they might be slightly more concerned with your quant score, which for you poses no problem at all. So I wouldn't worry about the verbal at all if I were you.
Also, I think the AWA is mostly used for proof that you wrote your essays and that you can communicate sufficiently (especially if you're a non-native speaker). For example, if you had gotten a 3.5 on the AWA, and turned well-written essays, the adcom might go back and take another look at your essays to see what's what.

you simply picked another college because the college you graduated from was not present in the list GMAC list?.......
why did not you leave it blank?.....how could you pick a college knowingly which has nothing to with you? yeah i know pople who picked a wrong college by mistake but i dont know someone who knowingly picked a wrong college.......contact GMAC as soon as possible.... 
guess i must be drunk or something. I just wanted to get out of the damned place. Anyways, thanks. I will contact GMAC first thing on Monday. Hope they can resolve it easily.
