There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I have't taken the GMAT yet and I would like to know 2 things:
1. when during the test is one required to chose what schools he wants to sent his scores to?
2. if you are not satisfied with your score, can you still keep the score but choose not to send it over to the schools ? I know there is also the option of cancelling the score, but don't want to consider that.
You select before starting the exam. I don't believe it is possible to keep the score but not send it to schools. If you think you might want to do this, you can just take the test without designating and schools, and then send the scores later on. You'll need to pay for each and won't get the 5 free with the exam, but that should accomplish your goal.
