Hi Gnpth

Thank you very much for reply.
My scores were:
GMAT 1 : 680 (Q49, V34)
GMAT 2 : 650 (Q50, V29)

I am currently in my final year of graduation.
I guess only HBS 2+2 and Yale Silver Scholar's have programs for 0 work ex.

When should I retake the GMAT and what should be my strategy.

Thanks a lot

Hi,

If you are targeting HBS 2+2. I guess the deadline is on 9th September 2014 for all HBS Programs.

Clearly from your split, the verbal has let you down. I would suggest to look where exactly you lack in verbal and define a study plan accordingly.

There are many course specially for verbal- e-gmat and Magoosh. As per the reviews, they are quite good and value for money and cheap as well. Each has study plan for a month too. Almost forgot, score improvement guarantee as well.

Also, dont forget to refresh your math skills side by side to maintain that Q50 Level. Subscribe for GMAT club test, this is hardest set of questions for both quant and verbal. The above 2 course comes with the purchase of gmat club test as well(Just a suggestion)

On personal note : I would suggest not to rush with your preparation now as deadline is too close. You can very well apply for Round 2 deadline.

My thought is "Haste makes waste". Take your time. Atleast give 2 months time to prepare for GMAT. Take up the exam in October. Then you can apply for Round 2 deadline for 2+2 program.

In 2 months time, you can fully concentrate on Verbal and give enough time to refresh/ strengthen the Math skills. And take more mock tests.

Also you will give a 2 months time(November & december) your applications. Which may help you in making your application strong.

It is all upto you, whether to take time and get a strong score 720+ and apply. Or rather pushing your preparation and in the process, stressing yourself more.

Think and Decide :-D  .

All the best :)

Hi

I have time only till Sept starting. After that I plan to study for my placements. I can give the GMAT next year in May - April before my job starts but won't that be a problem as I would have to start from scratch?

Please help

Thanks

Hi qwerty12321,

As i mentioned, if you feel you can crack the 720+ score with 1 month of preparation, very well you can go ahead and start preparing for GMAT right away.

All i said was my thought about hurrying things. Also it depends on person to person. It is solely my thinking. If you feel, you can do it in a month, you can do it.

I can see that you can do it, if you push a little in verbal part and revise daily for quant. Follow the steps i mentioned in previous post. That's what most people do when they feel, they are week in verbal.

Not being pessimistic here. All depends on how you tackle. If you believe you can do it, then you can :).

All the best :)

HI

One more question
Should I but the GMAT Exam Pack and the GMAT Question Pack given that I have already exhausted all the other official resources such as OG and VR?

And

Is Magoosh's Verbal course really worth it?
Do I need to but the aforementioned things with it?

Thanks

If you have not done with official questions from Exam pack and question pack. Very well you can go and buy it. As official questions always has a special place. But just with these 2, you are not assured of improvement. As it is just a practice, no explanations given for those.

As far as the course, you can check the reviews in below links.

1. Magoosh

2. e-gmat

Hi,
As for taking the GMAT again, I would recommend taking it sooner or later. Rather than waiting a year and having some of the tricks you’ve learned slip away, take a brief break (a few days, up to a week) and then jump right back into your studies. Put in a few months time and improve upon the already existing knowledge of which is still fresh in your brain from your last bout of studying. If you have more questions regarding this, please feel free to ask me!
