Hi GMAT Club,
I just finished my first stab at the GMAT, and scored a 660 (Q43/V38). I felt that my accuracy on the 500-level quant questions was pretty high, but I struggled to quickly identify the proper approach to questions that were a little more nuanced. This put me in a tough position against the clock, and forced me to triage more questions that I would've liked to. Verbal felt pretty easy, I had more than enough time to complete the section and feel I could hit my V38+ again without a problem.
As far a preparation goes, I've probably put in close to 200 hrs total. I started studying in December, but took a three month break from April to July after my initial test date was canceled due to Covid-19. I've kept an
error log and went through every
OG quant question, questions from the GMAT Club repository and also did Empower GMAT in the Spring. I've also taken and thoroughly reviewed all 6 Official Practice tests, with my most recent and best being a 680 (Q46, V38). I did do a re-take of a test I took in the spring that was a 710 (Q47/V41) but definitely remembered a handful of quant questions that impacted my score.
Any thoughts on when to re-take this test and what the best approach would be to raising my quant score a few points? My target schools are Fuqua, Ross and McCombs with Kellogg being my reach.
