Hi,
I gave the GMAT about 15 months back and scored 730 (Q49, V41, IR8, AWA 5.5). I am now giving it another go in the 10 days or so. Wanted advice regarding the following scenarios, so that I can decide whether to accept or reject my score:
1) I score 740/750 but with a lower IR/AWA score
2) I score 730 with a higher AWA score
In general also, I understand that we can cancel scores within 72 hours of the exam (in case we accepted our score originally) and we can also reinstate cancelled scores after the exam. Is there any difference between cancelling the score immediately after the exam or within 72 hours (in terms of visibility to b-schools during the application process)

So, there is no difference between canceling your score right after the exam or some time within the 72 hours cancelation window. Regarding your scenarios, I would actually accept both of those scores. A higher overall score certainly will help (even with lower AWA) and a higher AWA score with the same overall score certainly won’t hurt either.
