Hello Experts,

I took the GMAT 45 days ago and scored a 690 (Q 42 V 42) with a horrendous IR and AWA score ( IR:4 AWA:4). Immediately after I saw my scores on the screen I decided that I had to re-take the test. Exactly two weeks are left for my final tryst with GMAT. In these two months I maintained an error log and meticulously noted down my short comings. I registered for the Empower Gmat course and went through their modules. I did notice an improvement in my D.S abilities but then came the shocker when I took a GMAT Prep CAT ( 3rd attempt). I anticipated repeat questions and got 5-6 repeats in every section (didn't remember the answer to any). But since a familiarity with the question, even when you don't know it's answer, gives you an edge, I expected 730+. I scored a dismal 690 (Q 48 V 37).

I also took two Manhattan CATs after that (my second attempt). Scored a devastating 630 (Q39  V37) on the 1st CAT and 640 ( Q42 V35) on the 2nd CAT. Now, i'm totally devastated by these abysmally low scores. But I've made it a point that I won't let the "scores" affect my mood and general well being. I'm just doing questions from Gmat club forums and taking Manhattan CATs (4 left) to practice pacing. There's only so much I can do in two weeks.

I have three questions:

1. Will I profit from going through all the O.G problems once again? (Although I know most of them verbatim). What other sources should I refer to?

2. Do I have a chance of scoring a 730+ in two weeks.

3. What other things should I do to ensure that I don't fail miserably on D-day?

I'd really appreciate if an Expert helps me.

Thanks,
Joshua

Hello Joshua,

1. Absolutely. This time, look at the exam as an exam (typical question types and wording, what is really being asked behind the wording, what are the answer choice traps, what are the typical categories of wrong answer choices, etc.) You've probably had enough of concepts. You'll gain a huge advantage by learning more about how the exam is constructed.

2. Yes. Gain some better insight on the construction of the exam and where you had weaknesses in the previous attempt.

3. Be rested, think positive, and take your time to understand the questions and answer them to the best of your ability. If you tend to lose points here and there because of easy mistakes in calculations or misreading, don't allow it. Read carefully and show your work when doing calculations.

Best of luck!
