Hi exc4libur,

How many times have you taken the GMAT?

Hi ScottTargetTestPrep, I have taken the GMAT four times (4x) this year.

I was doing fine in my mocks {gmatprep, veritas, targettestprep (free), gmatclub…} and I had a guessing and timing strategy. But, reality is far from practice…

On the first (1) GMAT I had timing issues in both sections, but I thought this was because it was the first try and I was anxious/nervous.
So to make sure that nothing was wrong I took some more mocks, to see if everything was ok. Confirmed.

Then on the second (2) and third (3) GMAT the same thing happened… I wasted a lot of time in some questions at the beginning (always at the beginning!), and when I looked up half way through the questions there was only seconds left. Why did I waste so much time at the beginning? Well, besides feeling anxious/nervous, I kept misreading the questions and I had to redo all the work again.

After realizing this, I took the fourth (4) GMAT with the intent of just finishing all the questions on time and letting go those I misread or felt would take long: in Verbal I had to skip a few at the end, but at least I finished it, and in Quant, unfortunately, I was stubborn and couldn't finish it…zzz

My official scores were: <600, 630, 620, 640
My mocks average: 700 (quant 47-50, verbal 37-40)
