First of all, many thanks for GMAT Club for all the very valuable information shared. This is a really great forum for those who want to prepare seriously.
Just a little for my background: I intend to apply for an EMBA and the minimum score requested for all targeted schools is 670. I am not an English native speaker, I am married and I have children. My first CAT score, tested in March was 560 and the target (ambitious) was 700. Unfortunately I missed the 700 but got 690 (Q=49 - V=34). The following lines are about the preparation and my feedback on the values of the tests.
The total time for the preparation is around 160 hours fom March to yesterday. I had to combine my family life with constraints from work. I began my preparation in March with an average of 4 hours per week, then I intensified my preparation in April by 8 hours per week, then in May by 20 hours per week and the week before the test (this week), 10 hours per day (I took some leave). From March to April I did exercises from the various documents described below. In May, I took complete CAT (including AWA) at least once per week and the week before the test, two CATs per day (to test the endurance of the brain).
I used all the books and tests recommended in GMAT Club: I began with the Princeton review and the available exercises in the internet. I also intensively worked with the official GMAT Review (I practised all the exercises twice). I purchased Kaplan and Manhattan tests as well as GMAT Focus tests for verbal. In addition, I ordered all GMAT Club exercises. My feedback is the following for the CATs:
- For Princeton, I scored between 600 and 640: the CATs seem to be closer to the GMAT CAT
- For Kaplan, I scored between 590 and 690: the CATs seem a little bit more difficult than the GMAt CAT
- For Manhattan, I scored between 600 and 670: the CATs are really challenging.
- For the GMAT club exercises: very challenging but an excellent preparation for the maths, the verbal seems "easier"
- For the official GMAT Review: mandatory!
Concerning the results from GMAT Prep software, I advise to use it several times because you will experience that the majority of the questions change even if you do the test several times . My score on GMAT Prep first practice test was 610 and by doing it again I got 720 and 740 (the dream!). For the second set, I scored 680 and 720 by redoing it.
That's all, hope this could help, I could give more details on the scores, if needed, for the GMAT Club database.
