yea that should have been your strategy going in. That was mine in case I did worse, I only sent my score to schools I wasnt serious about applying to. But since I did better, I have to pay the price but it's worth the risk.

Do you guys think it is worth retaking? What do you think my strategy should be? Honestly, I think I bombed it simply b/c I am so burned out from GMAT. Is a good strategy not doing any GMAT for a month or so and then retaking?

So sorry to hear that :(

Guys propose good strategy: send, retake and send again.
I think you need to focus on essays, forget GMAT and 1 week before exam just go thorough OG. What is your QV? What was wrong? Verbal?

You were tired, had huge pressure of 1 year study.... it is very similar to my case.
You should restore self-confident at least. Do not give up and retake without preparation, just a few days only with OG. What will you lose? 250$? It worth much more!

I'm afraid if I take it again and get another terrible score it makes me look even worse. 660, 520, another 520 makes it look like the 660 was a fluke? No?

i kind of agree with your comment...especially if you're still feeling burned out. i find it hard to believe that you would not have a fair chance at darden with your 660...

I do want to take it again just to prove to myself. Obviously I am capable of a 660 since I scored it the first time. I've scored 700 - 730 on the Manhattan CATs.

Question is...how long do I wait to retake? 31 days?

Also, do I do a GMATPrep between now and then? I feel like I have to see a 700 GMATPrep before I can go in there again.

I tanked on my first GMAT, so I know your situation.
I would say take 10 days off of extremely relaxation, travel if you can. Then hit the stuff. Also work on managing in some fun time while you study. I do cardio every other day, and swim and go out with friends on weekends.
Good luck. you can do it.

btw, as suggested by other folks, only send the scores if you like them; don't send before you know your score.

My Verbal score also went down from 35 to 27 on my second attempt. Practice test scores were in 44+ range...

Can someone suggest the correct strategy for someone like me and Jimmy... on how we can prepare ourselves better for the next attempt...

I know I'm just tossing out random things...but can the fact that EVERYONE is taking the GMAT now for the '09 apps have anything to do with these weird scores?
