I am a typical IT guy with 7 years experience in IT. I joined this form last year and prepared my study schedule based on the article posted in this forum "How to start your GMAT prep". I took the initial GMATprep test and scored around 450. After going through MGMAT series and OG for 2 months , i again took GMAT test and scored around 550 and was confident i can exceed 600 with little more effort.
I planned to take up advanced topics in FEB 2014.But due to Office Work load i was not able to fully complete all the topics. Finally gave GMAT in March with q score of 490. I was so upset with the score that i stopped thinking GMAT and took time off with my family. Now i have a lean work period till March 2015.I would like to retake GMAT with a better score setting my target to 750.
I am confused about the study plan. Should i start preparing from MGMAT and OG again or should i start directly with advanced topics. I request any help in guiding through my preparation.

I would recommend you to first get your basics in a solid place. What is your quant and verbal percentiles? If one is higher than the other then you would need to focus more on that. If you have a low quant score, I would first focus on the easy official GMAT questions, there is no sense in obsessing about harder problems when you are tripping on the easy ones. Because the GMAT is computer adaptive, you need to first jump over the hurdle of easier questions before you can take on the harder stuff. Also, students who are scoring in this range benefit a lot from strengthening their foundations prior to diving in to lots of practice.
