Hello,
I have given my 1st Official GMAT exam yesterday and I scored 595. Sectional marks were - Q86/ 91st% , DI76/ 54% and V77/ 31% (exam same order). The B-School am targetting for requires at least 655 score. I really need to get my weakness identified and get them rectified and give attempt #2 next month. Any help is greatly appreciated.
My exam experience/analysis:
I found the 1st question in all sections to be of higher difficulty level. I got it incorrect for Q (later corrected using review) and for DI.
Quants was not the problem I got all but 1 question correct.
For DI, I got my 1st Q incorrect and I was not able to manage time correctly and did not get anytime for last 4 Questions. Some of the graph questions were on higher difficulty and time taking. I found DS and TA on easier side and TPA/MSR were moderate. Overall I got 7/20 Q incorrect. As mentioned biggest blow was the insufficient time for the last 4 q.
My Verbal is Bad. To begin, with CR, on the bright side I managed to get 7/10 Q correct which is great improvement from my Mocks. I really faltered on the RC. I got 8/13 incorrect which is really bad. I know my RC game is weak and need to improve it but really need experts opinion on this. I tried to analyze my overall take on Verbal and it's as follows -
- 4 continuous incorrect questions in middle cost me big chunk of marks/percentile
- I could not manage time for Verbal at all and I had to guess last 7 Questions (1 complete RC and some CR questions)
I would really appreciate the expert's opinion on this and good plan to get this DONE.

So, the good news is that you are in a pretty nice spot!
That said, you must continue to find your holes and fix them to improve your score. Topical practice is a great way to do that.
For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.
After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?
By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.
