Hi,

I recently completed my GMAT exam and scored 730 in it - Q49 V42 IR5 . I am planning for admissions in Sept 2019 and with that said, only R2 and other subsequent round of admissions are left now. Since acceptance rate in good colleges in these rounds is very thin, does it makes sense to increase score by 20-30 points , thereby increasing the chances of acceptance ?

Please provide insights if any.

Hey honey23022

Welcome to GMATClub

First of all, Congrats on the stellar GMAT score.

An admit to a top school is a combination of a lot of factors. A great GMAT
score doesn't necessarily guarantee an admission. If I were you, with less
than a month to go for some of the schools that you might want to apply
to, you should focus on writing your essay. You can also get an evaluation
done for your profile at the Admission Consultant forum here.

Make sure you include the details of what makes your profile unique and
then take a call on whats the best course of action for you

Hope that helps.

Hi honey23022,

First off, a 730/Q49 is an outstanding score (it's right around the 95th percentile overall), so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is NOT necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Were your GMATPrep scores generally above 730? Working on the other parts of your application is more important at this stage though.

Hi honey23022,

730 with a Q49 is a great score! So, nice work. That being said, before you make any decisions on how to proceed, I agree that you should speak to one of the many admissions consultants here on GMAT Club to get an opinion on your profile with a 730 GMAT score.

If you do decide to retake the GMAT, feel free to reach back out, and I’d be happy to help.
