Hi Everyone, this questions is related to GMAT in general. Can GMAT alter the percentile-score distribution retrospectively?
Ex: Person A scores 705 in GMAT focus on 30th Nov, 2023, which is roughly 98% according to the percentile table provided on the website. Theoretically, can this score(of 705) be downgraded to say 96 or 95 percentile, in future(say 2024 mid), if lot of students score higher than 700 in GMAT focus?

Percentiles are updated every year and any score report produced after percentiles are updated will show the current percentiles, not the percentiles in effect at the time that you took the test. It has always been this way (this is not a recent change).
Schools care primarily about the scores, not the percentiles, precisely because these kinds of minor changes do occur over time. The percentile reflects the pool of people taking the test, so that’s why the percentile can change a bit from year to year, but the skill needed to get a certain score does not change (eg, the skill needed to score 705 is the same last year, now, next year, etc.). So that’s why the schools care about the scores more than the percentiles.
