Hi, I used the GMAT official website, Veritas Prep, Kaplan, etc. for my practice exams. I have been working through analyzing my mistakes after I took it previously and got a 530. During my 530 attempt, I think I was overly stressed, so I ended up having a mental breakdown during the exam. For my most recent attempt, I thought things were going rather smoothly, I did have to guess on a few questions of both Quant and Verbal (3-4), but I had to guess on over 10+ questions each section for my first attempt and still somehow did better. I guess I’m just discouraged and feel that I don’t know what direction to go in as I have exhausted so many practice questions and felt I had a very good understanding of the topics. Even on my first diagnostic practice exam before studying any material I got a 500, so I am more so just defeated with my score. I do not remember my section scores for the 530 because it was cancelled, but I believe for the 440 I got V27 and Q21.
OK, if you have a good understanding of the topics, then you need to develop consistency so that you can reliably score 600+ when you take the GMAT. In other words, at this point, you need to keep developing your skill in applying what you know to arrive at correct answers.

Using myself as an example, when I was preparing for the GMAT, at a certain point, I was pretty excited about my knowledge of concepts and of how to apply them to answering questions. However, when I reviewed my practice quiz scores, I realized that, while I might know theoretically how to answer questions, my accuracy rate wasn't high enough for achieving my score goal, and it dawned on me that I had to go from knowing how to answer questions to being skilled in arriving at correct answers consistently.

So, possibly, you're in a somewhat similar situation. You know basically how to answer questions and often do get them correct, but your skills are not quite solid enough to get you to your score goal reliably.

If that is your situation, then your move is to work topic by topic, doing UNTIMED practice and shooting for high accuracy and streaks of 15 or more questions correct in a row. One good thing here is that you're stronger in verbal than in quant, and this topic by topic approach works super well for quant, and there are plenty of quant questions you can use for practicing.

Hi ukhskhsdvbsvjsdb,

I'm really sorry to hear that your 2 Test Day attempts did not go as well as planned. From what you describe, your first attempt included some really unfortunate technical issues - and it's possible that retaking the GMAT so soon after that experience impacted your ability to concentrate and perform at a higher level. That having been said, when these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What specific study materials (courses, books, etc.) have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
