Hi zmzm,

Official GMAT Prep CATs are the best predictors of your preparation.
Since you just have 5 days left for the test, appearing for a mock CAT at this point of time might not be a good idea.

Just go back and revise the concepts and go through your error log.
If you still want to test yourself, either you can buy the Question pack 1 or you can reset the GMAT prep Tests.

What is your target score?

Hi ,

My target is simply +600 that B schools are asking in Canada and USA. So far I am done with reviewing most GMAT preparation books, such as Manhattan GMAT books and Kplan GMAT 800 for a month, and practiced gmat in official guides and GMAT club work book for a month. I felt MGMAT was a tough exam when I took the mock up cats. MGMAT tests bombed me in 700-800 questions and I could stop solving questions around 27 in math. My strategy was to do my best at questions I can and then did guess clicked on the rest of questions until 37. In verbal, I got 50 percentage of accuracy in SC 600 level questions and 50 percentage of accuracy in CR 600 level questions. To me, CR is a barrier to reach +600 score even I finished with concept of CR in a book and GMATCLUB. I believe that if I got 40 in math and 32 in MGMAT then I could beat +600 simply. As you can see score above, the score is in score deviations, but it is not possible in combination score at this moment. In addition, I practiced gmat in MAGOOSH ,but videos were perfect but actual score was not increased to me. And E-gmat is very good, but I am not familiar with non-american style accent. Thanks

Hi zmzm,

Since you're so close to your Test Date, you should NOT try to do too much work in these final days. You should plan for a reasonable amount of practice and light review, but do not take any CATs and do NOT try to 'cram.' Your overall philosophy about how you want to handle the Test is fine, and your goal score is reasonable. On Test Day, you have to stay calm, stay organized and make good decisions. To that end, getting the proper amount of rest during the last couple of days is essential.

When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Finally I got 550(q41+v24) in a real exam. Seems verbal part went down from 28 to 24. So much disappointed. See the score from Aug 08:GMAT PREP 590 (q43+v28). Is anybody help me to boost from v28 to 34 within a few months?

I have a week away to take a real exam in September. I am exhausted at two months of study. Seems I am stuck in 530-540 on MGMAT.
Mostly I studied in GMAT using official guides and gmat club tests in my full efforts in August. I wonder what's an approximate gmat score in a real exam. The following is the scores in mock up cat tests:

-Jul 26:GMAT PREP 540 (q39+v25)

-Aug 08:GMAT PREP 590 (q43+v28)

-Aug 15:MGMAT CAT 530 (q31+v32)

-Aug 23:MGMAT CAT 540 (q37+v28)

-Aug 27:MGMAT CAT 530 (q32+v31)

-Sept 07:MGMAT CAT 530 (q35+v28)

-Sept 12:real GMAT exam: ??

Thank you for any feed backs

Hey zmzm

We can't comment for other tests but do note that no test prep company's algorithm will exactly match the real thing. The best we can do is get close.

You can always take a free GMAT PILL practice test here complete with detailed performance and timing analytics: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... ctice-test

In terms of our scoring, many of our students report scores that are +/- 30 points from their actual GMAT test and so are a relatively good indicator of their performance. That said, no practice test can perfectly replicate the actual score algorithm, but this is quite close.

Hi zmzm,

This GMAT score is right in-line with your practice CAT scores, so you're relatively consistent - you do certain things correctly each time and you make certain mistakes each time. Since your Official GMAT score is a 550/Q41/V24, we really have to work off of THAT performance as a basis for comparison. With these two Scaled Scores, you have a great opportunity to pick up points in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections (and a V24 means that you made lots of little mistakes throughout that section - you likely lost a bunch of points in all 3 Verbal categories - SC, RC and CR).

Thankfully, a 550 is relatively close to a 600+. However, with the consistency in your scores, you've likely developed some 'bad habits' that will take some time to get you out of.

You did not mention it in any of your prior posts, but when are you planning to apply to Business School?

I am going to rewrite test at any time when I have V38 in practical test. Also I am going to apply to Canadian B schools soon with resubmission possibility of gmat score since 550 is not good for job opportunities. I prefer canadian schools rather than US schools because weak canadian dollar in comparing US green dollar.

By the way, I wonder how long it will take to V38 from V24. Sometime I got V32 in MGMAT. Actually I realized real exam was hard than MGMAT in verbal part.

Hi zmzm,

A V38 is a rather high 'level' in the Verbal section, and wouldn't be necessary if your goal was to score 600+ overall. So I have to ask what matters MORE to you: to score 600+ or to score V38?

yes if it is +600. I thought V38 is a safe score to have +600 if I considered some score down.
I experienced V24 in real from V32 or V28 in prep tests.

Hi zmzm,

Your first GMAT Prep CAT score is remarkably close to how you scored on your Official GMAT, so I have a suggestion for you. Go back and do a FULL review of that CAT. I want you to count up the number of questions on that CAT that you could have gotten correct (but didn't) because of a silly/little mistake. That will help to define if your focus should be on content and knowledge or your tactics and 'mechanics'.

Most I had problems with CR(2 questions), SC(7) and RC(7). When I retook the CR and SC part, I could solve almost everything.
Seems I could not solve new problem set of SC problems -600 level questions and RC -600 level questions. I wonder if I can improve its accuracy.
If I solve a lot of question banks, will it help to increase accuracy? Or review SC book again.

Hi zmzm,

You seem really focused on improving in the Verbal Section, but your Quant Scaled Score (Q41 on your Official GMAT) ALSO allows for a big potential improvement in score. In the prior post, when I asked about how many questions you got wrong because of a silly/little mistake, I meant over the course of the BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections.

From what you've identified in the Verbal section, it looks like fatigue/endurance are big factors in your performance, meaning that when you get tired you can't seem to do effective work. Part of the 'solution' to your problem will be to practice the necessary tactics so that the 'process' doesn't change (even when you get tired) and you can work through the necessary steps, even at the end of a 4-hour Exam.

Hi zmzm,

It would help a great deal if you could post the ENTIRE ESR. While the report doesn't offer that much information, I'd need to see ALL of it to offer the proper analysis.
