Hello,
I appeared in GMAT on 28th April. I thought the exam went well (result shows the opposite though) but got a disappointing score of 590 (Q48, V23).
AWA section went well. I was able to finish both the essays on time. I eventually got 5.0 which I am OK with considering the amount of practice I had.
I thought, I was doing well in Quantitative section and had to guess only 2 questions out of first 30. I am pretty sure at least 25-26 questions were correct out of first 30 questions. Last few questions were really tough. I had only 5 minutes left to answer last 5 questions and I made a few guesses. Eventually, I scored 48. I was targeting 50 but would settle for 48. This is also in-line with my Prep scores where I got in between 47-50.
I was quiet pleased with my performance so far at the start of verbal section. It went moderately. I knew, I was guessing some of the questions. Around mid point I got a few very easy questions which gave me an impression that I was not doing very well. As always, I was in time crunch and had to answer last 3-4 questions in last 2 minutes. Shockingly I scored only 23 in verbal. Being a non-native English speaker with IT (Engineering) background verbal (Especially SC and RC) was always a challenge for me. I managed to score 28-32 in Prep Exams (
MGMAT, GMAT Prep, Kaplan) and 27 was my lowest score in Verbal. I was expecting a score around V30, but got only 23.
Being a working professional (with a 2PM-11PM shift) I managed to spend 2-3 hours in prep for 6 months. I had plans to do an executive MBA from a good B-School in India. I have good academic background (good marks throughout) and 9 years of overall experience (3 years in US and 2 years in project management).
I got very frustrated after the exam. I am still trying to get back my composure and hence thought of sharing my experience in GMAT club to get some guidance. Should I go for another GMAT attempt? Is there any good B-School where I can get in (1 year executive program) with this profile and score?
