I would but there are two things stopping me:

1) I am not sure if I can put my business plans on hold any longer

2) The mental torture of studying for the GMAT's again...
For these reasons, I mentioned "at the earliest opportunity".

Thank you for the reply!

Is the GMAT mocks (1-4) a relatively good indication of one's true ability? if that's the case I will do it again soon (heard it is a +/- 20, but not sure if things changed.

Thank you once again. EducationAisle

(I'm burnt out too studying for a month non-stop).

Consider taking a few days off.

As far as whether a 690 will get you an interview, that may depends on your overall profile. Probably fair to say a higher GMAT score may help your chance of getting an interview but even a 760 does not guarantee one.

Hi aa1411,

First off, a 690/Q47 is a solid Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though - and since you are interested in some highly-competitive Schools, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

If you do choose to retest, then we have to examine you prior studies (for both attempts) in more detail. Once you've decided on whether to retest or not, you should post back here (or you can PM me directly) and we can talk through how you might best proceed with your studies.

In addition, if you took your 2nd Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Not sure if the school's would entertain a 690. In your experience, and in current climate of applicants, would a 690 get the interview?

If you were scoring so high on your practice exams, why not just take the GMAT ASAP with minimal prep. I'd say you really have nothing to lose.

Would the GMAT mocks actually be a fair representation of the real exam, in your experience? I'm worried that I psyched myself up with the mocks, whereas the real exams are much harder hence a 690 is a true reflection of my strength.

I also changed my strategy and tested it with the mock, I'd spend more time in the first 15 questions for both Quant and Verbal and that gave me a 760 on the mock. Tried it in the actual, but obviously didnt have the same effect. Could that be a reason? Miscalculated the algo?

Thank you for your replies thus far everyone! ScottTargetTestPrep

The Official Mocks are the gold standard when it comes to mocks. That being said, there is the pressure of an actual exam that no mock can replicate and the fact that the Official Mocks are several years old. If you're doing mocks from a variety of sources, it may be good to take the scores with a grain of salt. This person, for example, had Verbal mock scores "ranging from 27 to 38". They ended up with a V31 on their first attempt.

Spending more time on some of the first questions in the actual test might be a cause of your score drop as the test's score algorithm is a complex thing.

I would not take that strategy on the GMAT. Here is everything you need to know about such a strategy:
