GMAT Score on application - same score twice

Question

Hi

I would greatly appreciate your honest advice. My two GMAT attempts have resulted in 680 but different breakdowns.
I am not happy with my score but i want to see what will look better for the admissions comittee.

Test 1
Q 88%
V 69%

Test 2
Q 77&
V 81%

I wish to apply to Chicago GSB which is known as more focused on quantitative.

if your background is quant-intensive, then take the more balanced score (q77,v81). if your background is literary-intensive, then go with the higher quant score (q88,v69).

If you are an international student, they would understand the weaker English score, so I would put the test with the higher Quant score.

I completely agree with that. It depends on your background and the field u wanna get into. q77, v81 is a very balanced score and all else being equal, i would use that.

I am international student with a degree in Finance from a U.S. college.

I think I will go with the more balanced score.

If you are applying Chicago, I would go with higher Quant. they are known to be a quant school.

If you took the tests within a few years of each other, the school is going to see both of them anyways.

This may be a good thing, since they'll see you are capable of both a high quant and high verbal score (just not at the same time :wink:

).
