Hello!

1. Once you receive your official score report, it will automatically be valid for five years. There’s no need to accept it anywhere; it will be available to you and the schools you choose to send it to.

2. Yes, you can send your score report to universities even if you don’t plan to apply immediately. When you send your score, the universities will typically receive only your score report. However, they may not have access to other information from your GMAC profile, such as your college academics, unless you provide that information separately.

I hope this helps!

Hi RR_study,

Here are some answers.

1. You do not have to accept your score after taking your GMAT. It will automatically be added to your account.

2. Yes, you can send your score to schools even if you do not plan on applying for a few years, but just make sure you are happy with the score.

Can scores once submitted to schools (ones that I don't plan to apply for some years down the line) be resubmitted within the 5 year period if I reattempt the GMAT and get a better score?

Let's say, my GMAT FE 2025 score is 650. I use the 5 free submissions and send them to 5 programs that I don't plan on applying to anytime soon.
Now I repeat GMAT FE in 2028 and score a 680. Can I resubmit this 680 to the same 5 schools? or will my old score be fixed for 5 years in these schools?

Hi. Welcome to GMAT Club.

1. Once you take the test, your score will be provided within about 3 days. At that point, no action from you is needed to preserver it.

2. However, you do get 5 free score reports that you can send out if you do that within 3 days of receiving your official score (not within 3 days of taking the test but receiving the score). You can send the scores up to 5 schools for free. Otherwise, if you do this LATER, it will be $35 per school - pricey!

You should definitely send the scores if you are happy with them. They should have access to them for up to 5 years. There is no harm in sending really unless these are LOW scores or borderline. In that case, you may as well hang back and worst case, you will have to spend $35 in a few years.

Hi Gintoki101,

You can always send an updated score to a school. Some schools may not accept an updated score in the same cycle/round, but if you're looking at 2025 and 2028, you won't face any issues. Also, GMAT scores now end in a 5 (655, 685...).

You can send your scores to schools at any time. They just keep them in their database and consider them when you do end up applying.
