Hi CapnSal,

That seems like quite the dropoff. Do you feel as though anxiety could have affected you on test day?

Hi CapnSal,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,

Attaching the ESR report. Apologies it took a while as there were some technical issues with it.

To answer your questions:
1) Studied from March 2023 till September 2023; weekdays for 3-4 hours and weekends 4-6 hours
2) OG 2022, Quant and Verbal review 2022, Manhattan Prep for practice. Took coaching as well from a tutor who has score 780 and 800. CATs used - Mock 1 to 5 and Manhattan Prep CAT 1
3) Below are the mock scores with the dates:
Source Date Overall Quant Verbal IR
Mock 1 (Diagnostic) mba.com 20-01-2023 440 32 20 -
Mock 1 mba.com 11-06-2023 640 44 33 1
Mock 2 mba.com 23-07-2023 640 51 25 6
Mock 3 mba.com 30-07-2023 700 48 38 5
Mprep - 1 Mprep 06-08-2023 680 47 35 4.5
Mock 2 mba.com 20-08-2023 760 50 42 6
Mock 4 mba.com 03-09-2023 750 51 40 6
Mock 5 mba.com 17-09-2023 780 50 47 5
GMAT 1 23-09-2023 550 45 22 4

4) Fall 2024 so aiming for R2

Hi ScottTargetTestPrep,

Yes i was definitely anxious leading up to the exam and on the test day as well. I attempted quant first and when I went for the break, I used my 1:48 from my verbal time. I have attached my ESR if it helps to analyze my performance.

Getting the ESR may be helpful. If you share it here (after wiping any personal info), people may provide some specific suggestions as well. If you feel time management was an issue, using question/time markers may be useful. Might be worth checking out posts by people who've successfully improved their scores to 730+ on the Share GMAT Experience subforum. May be some quick tips or resources they mention you could check out.

How to get a V40 or higher on the GMAT? What about a V51?

Hi GmatKnightTutor,

Yes I have attached the ESR. I feel my nerves definitely acted up and caused in my performance.

Hi CapnSal,

Since you are planning to apply to Schools soon, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

I've also sent you a PM with an analysis of your ESR and some additional questions.
