Okay, for the last two days I've been pouring over the comments that all of you have made and have found the motivation I needed to re-commit myself to studying for the GMAT. I stumbled across this Web site while trying to find new strategies for preparing for the GMAT. I'm that guy who spent the $1500 to attend a Kaplan tutoring program. I started in March and here it is approaching the end of July and I've plateaued only scoring anywhere from 620 to 680 on the Kaplan CATs. I did find solace when I read that Kaplan scores are grossly understated. I'm hoping to score a minimum 720, and I'm giving myself until the end of September to be ready. I can commit to 16-18 hours a week to study. I feel that should give me enough time to hit my goal.
What I have found from reading your comments so far:
(1). In addition to my Kaplan material, get “
MGMAT SC,” OG 11th ed, and utilize the challenges (I’ve already purchased the full set).
(2). Create a schedule and stick to it (some of you provided great tips for this, thanks)
(3). Create a detailed log to track mistakes, progress, and time spent on each problem.
(4). Inform family and friends I won’t be available for the next couple of months while I study.
Now I’ve read that a lot of people have found success with the PowerPrep CATs. Hopefully I don't sound too naive, but what are they and where can I get them. And lastly, is there anything else I should do to come up with a sound strategy to reach my goal. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
